250 CAREERTECH STUDENT LEADERS FROM AROUND THE
STATE TO CONVERGE ON THE STATE CAPITOL

(CHOCTAW, Oklahoma) CareerTech student leaders representing 10 technology centers around Oklahoma will be meeting at the State Capitol to see first hand how leadership roles can make a difference.
On Tuesday, April 1, 250 students will meet for the first CareerTech Student Leadership Day at the Capitol. Students will have the opportunity to meet with legislators from their own districts as well as from other districts around Oklahoma.
State Rep. Ray Miller, a member of the CareerTech Legislative Committee, will speak to the students about the importance of leadership in Oklahoma and the nation. Another special guest is Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Oklahoma, Joe Watt. Chief Justice Watt will also be speaking to the students on leadership roles in Oklahoma. The student leaders will be invited to sit in the House Chambers and see first hand where their legislators sit and debate bills as they relate to their districts and the state of Oklahoma. Capitol tours will also be given to the students. "This is a great opportunity for our student leaders to see how our government works. It is providing them the opportunity to see how important the need is for leaders in our own communities to step forward and make positive changes," said Dr. Greg Winters, superintendent of Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center, Choctaw.
The schools representing CareerTech Student Leadership Day at the Capitol include: Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center, Choctaw; Great Plains Technology Center, Lawton; Canadian Valley Technology Center, Chickasha and El Reno campuses; Moore Norman Technology Center, Norman; Francis Tuttle Technology Center, Oklahoma City; Autry Technology Center, Enid; Wes Watkins Technology Center, Wetumka; Northeast Technology Center, Afton, Kansas and Pryor campuses; and Central Technology Center, Drumright. "My hope for every student who attends CareerTech Student Leadership Day at the Capitol is to come away with an understanding of the roles of leaders in Oklahoma and to see how the roles they take from this point in their life can make a difference to the lives of many," Winters said.
