Nearly three hundred local and regional business and industry leaders met with instructors and administrators on the campus of Central Technology Center in Drumright Monday evening, Nov. 10th, to assist the school's staff in reviewing career education curriculum, methods and technology.
While most of the business and industry advisors are involved in an ongoing relationship with individual programs at Central Tech, the meeting Monday evening brought over twenty program committees together at one time for dinner and individual meetings with instructors and administrators. The theme for this year's general session was "F.I.S.H.: Fresh Ideas Start Here." Each committee member was encouraged to share their ideas on how new opportunities for technical training and career education can be developed and for improvements in the educational process. Addressing the meeting, Superintendent Phil Waul said: "Central Tech's two campuses and Business Assistance Centers served over eleven-thousand students and clients last year. Our placement rate of graduates into careers of their choice or continuing education was 93%. Over 15,500 utilized our facilities for events other than our own schedule of classes. We are truly committed to serving the communities that support us and our graduates."
The business and industry advisors meet with instructors periodically to share information about developments in their respective fields and assist the technology center's staff in keeping the career training programs relevant and timely. Equipment needs are also reviewed annually and recommendations are submitted to the school administration and Board of Education. "Our business partners in career and technical education are one of the most important elements to our success in placing so many graduates in careers of their choice and for the economic impact our students have on the Oklahoma economy," said campus director Anita Reynolds. |
