Central Technology Center is once again offering a Summer Career Exploration Camp for area middle-school age students. The SCE Camp provides a hands-on approach to career exploration that will be fun and exciting for all who participate and will be held on the Central Tech Drumright Campus, June 1-4, 2004 .
Summer Career Exploration Camp applications have been distributed to 24 area public schools. Students who are currently in grades 7, 8, and 9 are encouraged to apply. Camp coordinator Regina Foster says: "The purpose of this camp is to highlight the career and technology programs available at Central Tech and to give students a head start on making their education and career choices."
During this four-day event, students will rotate through each of four different career clusters, spending one day in each cluster. The clusters include: Health Science & Human Service which will involve students in activities in Health Careers Certifications, Medical Biology, and Cosmetology; Information Technology, Arts & Security , with activities in Network Administration, Criminal Justice, Graphic Design, Offset Printing and Telecommunications; Manufacturing, Architecture & Construction, which will involve activities in Commercial Electricity, Computer-Aided Drafting, Construction Trades, Machine/Manufacturing Technology and Welding/Fabrication Technology; and Transportation Technology, with instruction in Auto Service Technology, Motorcycle/Small Engine Technology, Diesel Technology and Science and Math applications of transportation technology taught by the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics Regional Center staff. All of the cluster areas have many hands-on activities planned for participants.
The Career Exploration Camp will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day with lunch provided for every student. Central Tech will also provide bus transportation morning and afternoon. A registration fee of $35.00 per camper will be charged with the check or money order payable to Central Tech.
