CareerTech Students Offer Blood Pressure Checks at Sapulpa Wal-Mart

Students in the Health Careers Certifications program at Central Technology Center , Sapulpa , are offering blood pressure checks to the public at the Wal-Mart Pharmacy in Sapulpa on a monthly basis.

"This gives our students an excellent opportunity to help our community and get practical experience in the career field each has chosen," said instructor Margaret Sutton. During the student's visit to the Wal-Mart Pharmacy on Tuesday, Jan. 6th , several citizens taking advantage of the cost-free service discovered they had unusually high blood pressure.

One shopper in the store asked to have her blood pressure check after having already been diagnosed by her doctor to have high blood pressure. "I just wanted to see if the medicine my doctor prescribed is working," she commented. The student's check of her system indicated that it is.

The Central Tech health students plan to offer the blood pressure checks, in cooperation with Wal-Mart Sapulpa, on the first Tuesday of each month through May.
