Central Tech Students Headed
to National Skills Contests

Seven students at Central Technology Center , Drumright, have earned the right to compete at the national level soon in skills competition sponsored by SkillsUSA and Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA).


Heather Taylor, Cushing, was elected a National Officer Candidate at a recent
state SkillsUSA conference in Tulsa . Heather also won fourth place in
Prepared Speech competition at the state meet among Cosmetology students.



Chris Cooper, Stroud, won 1st Place in Motorcycle Service Technology at the state meet
and will proceed to compete for the national gold medal. Cooper also won the state meet
last year and went on to win a Silver Medal at the National SkillsUSA conference.

Jimmy Sumrall, Olive, won 1st Place in Computer Maintenance at the Oklahoma
conference and will soon compete at the national skills meet. Sumrall is
a Network Administration student at Central Tech.



Jamie Janzen, Olive, will go for the gold at the National SkillsUSA competition
after winning1st Place in the Sooner competition in Principles of Technology.
Janzen's instructor in Principles of Technology at Central Tech is Dr. Lee Denney.



Health Careers Certifications winners this month include Stephanie Adams, Cleveland,
who won 1st place in the state HOSA conference in First Aid/Rescue Breathing.



Jared McCrackin, Olive, won 1st place in Concepts of Health Care;
and Bridget Reece, Drumright, won 1st place in Medical Assisting/Administrative.
All three of the Central Tech health careers students will be competing
for honors at the national HOSA skills conference in June.

Four Health Careers Certifications students successfully fulfilled
requirements this semester for the National HOSA Recognition Program. The
quartet included: Ashley Blythe, Depew; Carol Green, Adult student;
Jackie Gilliam, Depew ; and Jamie Hawkins, Cushing.
