Business leaders from twelve Northeastern Oklahoma business firms had representatives on-campus March 31st at Central Tech in Sapulpa to assist Business & Information Technology and Administrative Assistant Legal-Medical programs with mock interviews as part of the student's preparation for entering the workforce.
The Interview Seminar Day at Central Tech saw nearly 45 students participate in job interviews with the business reps and receive individualized critiques that will assist the students in preparation for actual on-site employment interviews in the weeks to come.
Students were told “to be sure and ask for the job when you are interviewed,” as well as focusing on proper attire and their best smiles. The participants were reminded that first impressions are critical, even the impression made with the receptionist when entering a place of business for an interview. “That receptionist is part of the interviewing process” the students were told.
Students were concerned about how to prepare resumes and were told to pay particular attention to grammar and spelling and focus on the skills they have to offer an employer.
Interviewers participating in the day's exercises included: Eugene Gibson, Branch Manager, Adecco, Tulsa; Tedene Staiger, Asst. Cashier, American Heritage Bank, Sapulpa; Leslie Shoals, Human Resources Mgr., Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Tulsa; Melissa Daniel, Employment Mgr., Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Tulsa; Sherri Dawson, Administrator, Eldridge, Cooper, Steichen & Leach, Tulsa; Gloria McCurdy, Asst.
