Ashley Tull Joins Industrial-Medical
Nuclear Safety Branch of NRC


Cushing's Ashley M. Tull, a recent graduate of the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics Regional Center at Central Tech and Texas A&M University, has joined the staff of The Division of Industrial and Medical Nuclear Safety (IMNS) for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in Washington D.C. as a Nuclear Safety Professional Development Program (NSPDP) participant.

Tull is assigned to Section B of the Materials Safety and Inspection Branch. According to NRC information, the Cushing native is currently involved in the regional coordination activities for briefing and following up on events related to materials program. Tull also participates in the Medical Radiation Safety Team for implementing the newly revised Part 35 regulations.



NRC officials state that: “Although the NRC's NSPDP is her first professional permanent position, Ms. Tull has already gained some practical experience by working summers in the Radiation Safety Department at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas . She was involved in both the licensing of byproduct material and inspection of radiation producing equipment for four hospitals and the medical university. Ms. Tull also gained technical experience by performing radioisotope analysis via bioassay and liquid scintillation analysis. She assisted with labeling and packaging radioisotopes and performed quality assurance tests.”

Tull, daughter of Dennis and Debra Tull, Cushing, attended physics and higher math classes at the OSSM Regional Center at Central Tech while a student at Cushing High School and is a recent graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Radiological Health Engineering. Ms. Tull is a member of the Health Physics Society. While studying at Texas A&M, she won numerous honors and awards and was active in several volunteer projects for the university community.
