National Technical Honor Society members from CareerTech across the state converged on the State Capitol Feb. 9th for their annual “NTHS Day at the Capitol” event and toured the House and Senate Galleries after having lunch with their respective Senators and Representatives.
Among the 250 attending the day-long event were ten NTHS members from Central Technology Center at Drumright. While at the Capitol, the Central Tech honor students had the opportunity to visit one-on-one with their local lawmakers and have their photo take with the elected officials, tour the State Capitol, observe both the Senate and House in session and get an up close look at how laws are made and the legislative process really works. One of the highlights of the day for the technology students was a tour of the Governor's Mansion near the Capitol building.
Visiting with the Central Tech honor students were Senators Ted Fisher, Mike Morgan and J. Barry Harrison, as well as Representatives Todd Hiett, Danny Morgan, Lee Denney, Rex Duncan, and Brian Bingman.
The National Technical Honor Society recognizes those students in CareerTech programs that excel in academic and skills learning as well as demonstrate critical workplace values such as work ethic, honesty, citizenship and leadership. Central Tech inductees are required to maintain a 4.0 grade average in their studies at the tech center as well as near perfect attendance in addition to their community service activities.

Steven Kent and Ted Runt, Bristow; Donna Jones and Amber Tusler, Cushing; Jack Duke and Chris Moffit, Depew; Casey Brown and Jared McCrackin, Olive; and Brandy Lockhart and Sean Ziesenis, Stroud. |
