Over four hundred local and regional business and industry leaders met with instructors and administrators on the campuses of Central Technology Center in Sapulpa and Drumright recently to assist the school's staff in reviewing career education curriculum, methods and technology.
While most of the business and industry advisors are involved in an ongoing relationship with individual programs at Central Tech, the meetings November 1st at Sapulpa and 10th in Drumright brought thirty-four program committees together for dinner and individual meetings with instructors and administrators. Each committee member was encouraged to share their ideas on how new opportunities for technical training and career education can be developed and for improvements in the educational process.
Addressing the meetings, Superintendent Phil Waul said: “Central Tech's two campuses and Business Assistance Centers served over nine-thousand students and clients last year. Our placement rate of graduates into careers of their choice or continuing education was 95%. Nearly 2,400 hours of college credit was earned by our students through partnerships with colleges and universities. We are truly committed to serving the communities that support us and our graduates.”
The business and industry advisors meet with instructors periodically to share information about developments in their respective fields and assist the technology center's staff in keeping the career training programs relevant and timely. Equipment needs are also reviewed annually and recommendations are submitted to the school administration and Board of Education. “Our business partners in career and technical education are one of the most important elements to our success in placing so many in careers of their choice and for the economic impact our students have on the Oklahoma economy,” said Sapulpa campus director David Main. |
