Cross Timbers RC&D Announces
Grant Writing Seminars

“Grant Writing for Success” will focus on the necessary skills to develop a successful grant proposal and will be held on November 10 th and 11th at Central Tech's Center for Business Technology Research and Development at 201 N. Settle in Drumright. The seminar will be two full-day sessions and registration will be $135 per attendee.

“As competition grows for dollars to be awarded to nonprofit organizations increases, possessing the necessary skills to write an effective grant proposal to a private foundation, corporate foundation or government agency, is becoming more and more important for every not-for-profit organization. Whether the need involves program support, operating support, or grants to fund a capital campaign, the basics for researching and writing that winning proposal are essential. This seminar is critical for any nonprofit who relies on grants as a part of their funding,” said Carol Troy, president and CEO of the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits.

Presenter for both of the seminars will be Jim Durbin. Durbin has over 12 years experience in nonprofit fundraising and administration and has secured more than $6 million in grants from both national funding sources as well as local foundations during his career. Durbin's professional experience includes four years as Senior Grants Associate at World Neighbors and two years as Program Development Officer at Feed The Children. Currently, Mr. Durbin serves as Director of Development at Mount Saint Mary High School in Oklahoma City .

The workshop is being co-hosted by the Cross Timbers Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) Association, Central Technology Center , and the RC&D Agritourism Committee. The RC&D organizations assist local residents in improving their economy and environment through conservation and better utilization of natural resources. Creek county is a part of the Cross Timbers RC&D district.
