Sapulpa Tech Classes Assist South Heights
in Adopt-A-School Project

Students in the morning Business and Information Technology (BIT) class at Central Technology Center 's Sapulpa campus have adopted classes at South Heights Elementary School in a community service project called Adopt-A-School.

The Tech students volunteer their time to assist the SH elementary children in the Smart Start program, from 7:30 to 8:30 am, and the Monday Mentoring Program from 9:00 to 11:30 am. Smart Start and Monday Mentoring are designed to help the children read and give them one-on-one assistance in computer skills as well as reading where needed.

Central Tech BIT instructor Sonya Hendrix and AM class president Kristin McGuire worked with South Heights principal Tom Walsh and counselor Denise Witzansky to create the partnership. The BIT students work with the SH teachers and their students during the tech student's volunteer time in. Participating SH teachers participating in the programs are Mrs. Lively, Mrs. Hall, Mrs. Martin, and Mrs. Colson and Mrs. McCullough.

Central Tech students participating in the South Heights partnership include: Kristin McGuire of Kellyville; Kristen Yocham, Kellyville; Heather Dillon, Bristow; Jennifer Sloan, Bristow; Tiffany Lovell, Sapulpa; Angela Brzazowsky, Mounds; Bill Bybee, Bristow; Curtis Pilant, Sapulpa; Debbie Marshall, Bristow; Mandy Carlock, Sapulpa; and Nannette Watkins, Bristow.
