HCC Students Aid in Child
Abuse Prevention Awareness

Students in the Health Careers Certifications programs at Central Technology Center , Drumright, are helping the Creek County Health Department in raising public awareness of how to spot signs of child abuse and what can be done in the area of prevention. A particular focus of the project is in detecting and prevention of shaken baby syndrome.

Special awareness cards and blue ribbons have been prepared by the Central Tech students for distribution by the Creek County Health Dept. Machelle Howard of the Oklahoma Child Abuse Prevention District Task Force also has special information materials for the public detailing methods of calming babies and when a baby is at risk for shaken baby syndrome. Parents of small children will find additional help in dealing with a baby that is as risk.
