Students in Sonya Hendricks' and Susann Shanahan's business training programs at Central Tech in Sapulpa scored first place or in the top ten in the March State Leadership Conference sponsored by Business Professionals of America. Competition was held at Oklahoma State University at Okmulgee.
Hendricks teaches Business and Computer Technology and Shanahan is instructor for the Administrative Assistant Medical-Legal classes. "We are extremely proud of all who prepared and competed in the events. Nineteen of the twenty-two Central Tech students who competed were recognized in the top 10 of their events," said Shanahan.
Students who won first place in their respective contests will be invited to compete in the BPA National Leadership Conference May 10-15 in Orlando, Florida .
Top scoring high school age students from the Sapulpa Central Tech programs included:
Kristin McGuire, Kellyville, 2nd place in Interview Skills; Jodie Roberts, Keifer, 2nd in Legal Office Procedures; Kristen Yocham, Kellyville, top 10 in Fundamental Word Processing; Tiffany Lovell, Sapulpa, top 10 in Advanced Word Processing; Mackenzy Hoover, Sapulpa, top 10 in Legal Office Procedures; and Angela Brzazowsky, Mounds, top 10 in Integrated Office Applications.
Top score adult students included: Jennifer Sloan, Bristow, 1st place in Interview Skills; team mates Bill Bybee, Bristow; Deborah Gaulf, Bristow; Brandi Hudson, Stroud; and Autumn Denny, Stroud, won 1st place in Administrative Support Team competition.
LaDonna Roebuck, Bristow, 2nd place in Legal Office Procedures; Da'Vonne Johnson, Bristow, 2nd place in Advanced Word Processing; Heather Dillon, Bristow, 2nd place in Databasse Applications; and Millie Languell, Bristow, 3rd place in Fundamental Word Processing.
Scoring in the Top Ten in open events were Bill Bybee, Bristow, Financial Math Analysis; Deborah Gaulf, Bristow, Administrative Support Concepts; and in the Top Ten in respective events: Amber Penny, Bristow Medical Office Procedures; Diana Perry, Bristow, Basic Office Systems & Procedures; Debbie Marshall, Bristow, Integrated Office Applications; and Jennifer Nelson, Sapulpa, Legal Office Procedures.
Of the 15 adult students who competed, twelve are former employees of the defunct Kwikset factory in Bristow. |
